I mentioned that we have plans to make most of our Christmas gifts this year. I love the idea of making gifts and buying handcrafted items that other people are selling. I am so fond of Etsy. Have you spent any time there? It is a handmade haven.
Last year my in-laws gave Mary Kathryn a Felicity American Girl doll. Darn that catalog comes once a month and inevitably she finds twenty outfits that Felicity "wants"! I can't afford one outfit much less twenty. Miss Felicity better get herself a job if she is going to be a fashionista. :)
But guess what? I bought the sweetest hand crocheted poncho, hat and shoes for Felicity at Etsy for $7 for ALL THREE. Just type "American Girl Doll Clothes" in their search engine and you'll be surprised what you'll find.
I've installed this button in my sidebar.

I have a lot of work to do to have a handmade Christmas but I think it can be done. I will be keeping the afternoons free for handcrafts starting on Monday. Pictures of progress to follow. :)

This is GREAT Rebecca, I'm going to follow along with you, what an example you are to your dear children :) Love,

I bought some AMG doll clothing here yesterday for two very lovely young ladies who will be thrilled on Christmas morn!
Thank you for the recommendation!

We are doing this too! I'm coming up with far more ideas than I can manage, but I'm enjoying the season more than ever as well.

Here's a good one but for the technically savy like yourself, Rebecca:
One year my brother-in-law made a CD (and a copy for each member of the family) of tape recordings - you know, the old tape recorder recordings. They were all from when they were kids. He transfered them to his CD and then used the computer to enhance and copy them.
He then made a slick cover to slide into each CD case. The family enjoyed it so much and now each member of his family has it for ... well, for as long as CD players are in existence.

My daughter gets so excited when the American Girl magazine comes. She uses it as paper dolls!!! I don't think she even realized that you could buy the things in it. She enjoys the magazine as a gift in itself - and it's free!! :-)

I have been thinking about grabbing that button also! Thanks for the push. ;-)

I have recently, well the past few weeks, been feeling a calling towards making/busying more hand-made items. There is something so special about a well-made handmade item. Dora, Elmo, and other popular themed toys just don't seem to cut it-they are a lot easier to pass on though without regrets!
