Yesterday, we hiked through the woods to our neighbor's Christmas tree farm. It was the first day that we've had any significant snowfall this season. This time last year, we had a couple of feet of snow. After deciding on a tree, the kids carried it back home. I wore the baby in the cloth sling and had her bundled up toasty in lots of mismatching woolens since she had the flu. We put on the lights and, last night, the ornaments. Now the living room has a nice soft glow to it that I just love. I could keep a Christmas tree up all year, just to see the pretty lights.
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I love the lights too. May have to buy a WHOLE lot more candles once the tree comes down. : )
