Got up late this morning. Washed clothes and it was a very hot day. Made some currant and cherry jelly, 6 glasses. Had an experience today. I walked back in chicken yard to open slide and found all but two chickens dead. A weasel, we think. What a mess.

3  cups flour 

2 good handfuls sugar

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

3/4 cup milk (heated)

2 Tablespoons shortening (dissolve in milk)

2 eggs

Vanilla
